I hope you like my new blog makeover. Take a look around and leave me a comment. I’d love to hear what you think!

This weekend, I made a few small changes around Casa Burciaga. Ever notice how small changes often add up to a big difference in the overall feel or look of a room? For instance, I mentioned last week that we purchased a new rug for the kitchen. When I found this rug, I’m pretty sure my eyes lit up and I looked like a crazy woman, because I had been searching for a great deal on an antique-style persian rug. I just never thought I’d find it at TJ Maxx! I lugged this baby home and now it proudly sits (or lays, rather) in our kitchen. Normally, I’m not a fan of a lot of red, but something about the hand-knotted, tribal pattern on this rug, plus the perfect size, made my heart sing!

Take a look:

To me, this rug is a small addition that has a lot of impact in the room!

I also swapped out the towels in my Master Bathroom. I was tired of the towels I had in there. I had found them on sale at Dillard’s just before we moved into our house, and they match our shower curtain perfectly.

This is the ‘before’ with the orange towels:

And after:

I replaced the orange towels with another set of towels I had sitting on the shelf of the linen closet for years. I remember picking these towels out at the store and buying them for my ‘future house’ someday even before I was engaged! Then they sat on the shelf, with the tags still on, for around 4 years. I hadn’t used them because I didn’t think the colors matched either of my bathrooms. Today it dawned on me that the towels just might go with the tan walls of the bathroom and the brown walls and zebra accents in the adjoining bedroom. So I tried them… and I loved it!! Brand ‘new’ towels and a whole different look without spending a dime!

I really love the blue pattern on the towels! I’m glad I get to finally use my towels that I bought so long ago!

{Please ignore the tags that are still on.}

I just wanted to share some little updates that happened here over the weekend! Stay tuned this week for more changes around our house!

If I had a medicine cabinet, I would want it to look like these two photos. Who thought a medicine cabinet could be so beautiful?! Have I mentioned how great Eddie is? He formerly worked for Martha Stewart and now is a fab designer. I recommend taking a peek at his site!

On another note, take a look at the kitchen I found on a favorite blog of mine, Bryn Alexandra Interiors. I LOVE the marble counters, chandelier and wall color!!! Gorgeous! And that window…sigh. I also like it because it seems attainable, which makes it all the more attractive!
