I have been bitten by the Pinterest “bug”, along with everyone else, and have to admit that I am addicted to this site! Not only have I been totally inspired by the home decorating images, an area that is always of first and foremost interest to me, but I have been surprised by how many awesome ideas I have gleaned in fashion, makeup, hair, and food!

I resisted jumping on the Pinterest bandwagon at first, because I didn’t need one more thing to keep up with, and thought I might be overwhelmed by poor images of bad decorating. My husband actually joined first and sent me an invite, which is pretty funny to me. I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of inspiring images (unlike HGTV’s Rate My Space). Anyway, if you’re on Pinterest, I’d love it if you followed me here.

Lately, I’m totally inspired by these images…

Perfect makeup and hair!

Notice a theme? Blonde hair and tan skin!

Great summer work outfit.

Classic.

Perfect blend of traditional elegance with country chic.

Totally digging the dark wooden beams and the sleek marble counters. I love everything in this kitchen!

And because I love cute doggies…

So, are you on Pinterest? If so, hope to see you there!

Yesterday I came across this kitchen from Southern Living on Myhomeideas.com designed by William Waldron. I have seen many an open-shelf kitchen, but this one in particular made my heart go pitter-patter.

The space is pretty teeny, but the open shelving really opens everything up and the continuation of the subway tile all the way up to the ceiling really draws the eye upward. And that chandelier is a beauty! It appears to be brass or copper. Waldron did a fabulous job of designing this kitchen simply but beautifully. I don’t think this look would go out of style for a long time.

Our kitchen is pretty little also. I had considered replacing our cabinets with open shelving awhile back, then dismissed the idea. Now I’m thinking again that I might want to go for this look in my kitchen…And my hubby loves this kitchen too! Score!

Unfortunately, a kitchen remodel to this extent is not in the budget at this time. :( Oh well, I will just look at the picture and dream…

This weekend, I made a few small changes around Casa Burciaga. Ever notice how small changes often add up to a big difference in the overall feel or look of a room? For instance, I mentioned last week that we purchased a new rug for the kitchen. When I found this rug, I’m pretty sure my eyes lit up and I looked like a crazy woman, because I had been searching for a great deal on an antique-style persian rug. I just never thought I’d find it at TJ Maxx! I lugged this baby home and now it proudly sits (or lays, rather) in our kitchen. Normally, I’m not a fan of a lot of red, but something about the hand-knotted, tribal pattern on this rug, plus the perfect size, made my heart sing!

Take a look:

To me, this rug is a small addition that has a lot of impact in the room!

I also swapped out the towels in my Master Bathroom. I was tired of the towels I had in there. I had found them on sale at Dillard’s just before we moved into our house, and they match our shower curtain perfectly.

This is the ‘before’ with the orange towels:

And after:

I replaced the orange towels with another set of towels I had sitting on the shelf of the linen closet for years. I remember picking these towels out at the store and buying them for my ‘future house’ someday even before I was engaged! Then they sat on the shelf, with the tags still on, for around 4 years. I hadn’t used them because I didn’t think the colors matched either of my bathrooms. Today it dawned on me that the towels just might go with the tan walls of the bathroom and the brown walls and zebra accents in the adjoining bedroom. So I tried them… and I loved it!! Brand ‘new’ towels and a whole different look without spending a dime!

I really love the blue pattern on the towels! I’m glad I get to finally use my towels that I bought so long ago!

{Please ignore the tags that are still on.}

I just wanted to share some little updates that happened here over the weekend! Stay tuned this week for more changes around our house!

I recently was introduced to a new blog via Emily A. Clark when she featured a kitchen remodel belonging to Emily Hewett of A Well-Dressed Home. Hewett, a fellow Dallas resident, is an interior designer and did a phenomenal job on her kitchen remodel!!

Before:

A typical kitchen, with its orange cabinets and everything is dark, dark, dark.

After:

Amazing! Can you believe this is the same kitchen? What’s even better, this remodel was done on a budget!

Her Living Room is also a gorgeous! It looks so inviting and practical for “real-life”, yet without compromising on the style! I especially love the starburst mirrors, the layers of pattern on the pillows, and the cowhide rug.

Great job, Emily! Go check out her blog. You will be glad you did.

If I had a medicine cabinet, I would want it to look like these two photos. Who thought a medicine cabinet could be so beautiful?! Think how much more enjoyable getting ready in the mornings could be! The bottom picture is from Eddie Ross. Have I mentioned how great Eddie is? He formerly worked for Martha Stewart and now is a fab designer. I recommend taking a peek at his site!

On another note, take a look at the kitchen I found on a favorite blog of mine, Bryn Alexandra Interiors. I LOVE the marble counters, chandelier and wall color!!! Gorgeous! And that window…sigh. I also like it because it seems attainable, which makes it all the more attractive!

Just look at the marble tile backsplash!! Love the feet under the cabinets and that upper row of cabinets all lit up! How about the Viking range? Beautiful. I like the stainless steel Kitchen Aid! My hubby surprised me with the same one at Christmas! The well-lit space, cream cabinets and accessories, and neutral damask wallpaper keep the stainless steel and marble from feeling too cold. Enjoy!
