When we moved into our house 2 years ago, our dining room looked like this:

A soft yellow on the walls, country-ish light fixture, but not bad overall… Since then we have made a few changes, such as: purchasing a new dining table/chairs, repurposing the curtains in another room,  and replacing the ugly fluted lamp shade things with something a bit nicer… See photo below:

When I had my consultation with Bryn of Bryn Alexandra Interiors, she suggested painting my DR walls a dark shade, since my LR is cream. The DR has large windows and mirrors so the space can handle a dramatic color. She suggested Black Fox by Sherwin Williams. Well, I took the plunge…

My sweet and talented mother painted the oil painting above (this is no paint by number, let me tell you!). I love how it pops off the dark background!

The plate rack that my father made for my mother years ago. Right now, I only have 2 Blue Willow plates, but I plan on filling the entire rack with blue/white china. Loving the combo of the dramatic, masculine walls with the traditional Blue Willow plates.

The color is Black Fox by Sherwin Williams. We are loving it! Check back for more updates as the transformation unfolds at the Burciaga Casa!
